Chest Surgery:
Dr. Heiser performs chest surgery for problems including pneumothorax, biopsy of suspicious x-ray findings, cancer removal, pleural effusions, and open lung biopsy for challenging disease processes. We can often perform these procedures utilizing a thorasope (TV camera) to minimize the incision, postoperative pain, and recovery time. Working closely with the anesthesiologist, the affected lung can be collapsed, allowing the thorascope to be introduced into the space between the ribs and the lung. Surgery be performed without a large incision. Dr. Heiser will be happy to discuss how surgery may help your particular situation. He can also review your x-rays with you so that you can have a good understanding of the nature and location of the problem.
